Hello Friends!
This time of year many companies are looking for charitable opportunities. There are many many worthwhile causes in our local area, our country and worldwide. I strongly encourage members to let me know of any specific events that you would like our group to know about so it can be listed on our site and/or announced at the weekly meeting.
Along those lines, I work with a food pantry [and clothing ministry] that has seen a tremendous increase in use. We rely on donations from the community to help provide for those in need. If your company is looking for a way to give back to the community please feel free to:
Hold a food drive [all types of food, even frozen, can be used].
A coat drive would help our patrons stay warm for fall and winter. Any clothing should be gently used as it is given directly to those in need. Any clothing we do not give away is given to the Trenton Rescue Mission for distribution. Any clothing that is unwearable will be donated to the Lupus Foundation to be sold as bulk and support their foundation.
Or perhaps a “Personal Care product” drive with shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, deodorant etc.
If that doesn’t suit you we are EXTREMELY grateful to accept monetary donations. The money donated allows us to acquire bulk food from the Community Food Bank of NJ– a little goes a VERY long way! A tax donation letter can be provided for monetary donations. Checks may be made to “St. George’s Church” with “Food Pantry” in the memo line.
Maybe your company would like to co-host our free community dinner one night! We offer this dinner once per month [on the 2ndWednesday of each month]. I can provide additional details.
For anyone interested in in “sainthood” lol our wish list for the pantry includes the following “Big-Ticket” items:
A Commercial walk in freezer [approx. $5,000]. ! A tax donation letter can be provided for this donation
A ”Chevy Suburban type” van with back fold down seats to transport food [and people who cannot drive to the pantry or free community dinner]. A used vehicle is fine even with high mileage. A tax donation letter can be provided for this donation.
